Re: Git Server

I don't get the excitement around this GIT package for Synology. I just use GIT for windows (https://git-for-windows.github.io/) and GIT from VisualStudio via my file shares on the Synology. This works very nice. No need for a GIT package on my Synology, no need for ssh and certainly no CLI command...

Re: LDAP not working

I have the same problem. It was working just fine before the upgrade to DSM 6.0.x Yes, my Directory Server and LDAP client is broken now too. I'm thinking it's related to binding with the root DN in DSM 6 (since they've locked other things down) - perhaps that's not working any more as I can't chan...

Re: Should I update from last DSM 5 to 6.0.2-8451-3 ?

Oh, I should add however, that other than the above issues (and LMS package needing to be re-installed) DSM 6 has been reliable and stable for me (I run some VMs over NFS from it so would notice quite quickly otherwise). I understand Syno's reasoning for not wanting 3rd party packages too (even thou...

Re: Should I update from last DSM 5 to 6.0.2-8451-3 ?

I've been on Synology for ~3 years and never previously hesitated much before upgrading, but had my first upgrade issues going from DSM 5 to 6. They further lock down some accounts now (part of a security update) and, more significantly for me, my (default settings) LDAP server has broken, affecting...

Re: Logitech Media Server not starting

I had a very similar problem after recently upgrading to DSM 6 - it kept saying I needed to upgrade DSM but when I tried it gave this error: Current package version is 7.9.0-061. You cannot downgrade it to the older version 7.9.0-161. It wasn't obvious to me what was wrong but in the end I resolved ...

Re: Commands for file manipulation, e.g., md5sum, shasum

I know this is an old thread, but I was looking at a way to calculate the MD5 for large files directly on the Syno rather than from my PC. The DSM UI is pretty quick and from top I found you can run the same command from the ssh command line, e.g.: /usr/syno/bin/openssl md5 /volume1/mydir/mybigfile....

Re: "cannot be synced due to access permission denied"

I've had this same problem with CS not syncing what turned out to be a read-only file (thanks for the fix!). I removed the read-only flag and it sync'd fine. I wonder why that is? Is seems quite reasonable to me that you might want to have read-only files sometimes (e.g. ones you don't want to accid...

Re: Git Server

I've raised support ticket #256165 and will report back what Synology say. I had a prompt reply saying: Only the apps below support LDAP/AD users at the moment: Windows File Sharing, FTP, WebDAV, File Station, Network Backup, Cloud Station, Audio Station, Video Station, Mail Service, Surveillance S...

Re: Git Server

By the way, for anyone using the official Synology Directory Server LDAP users don't appear work with the official Synology Git Server :( (looks like it's a problem not being able to set git-shell - see http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=48394&p=295988#p295988 ) I've raised ...

Re: SSH access for LDAP users

FYI folks, this is Synology's doing. ... Thanks for this investigation norrelmeister. I'm finding Synology's support for LDAP users somewhat frustrating. One of my goals in migrating to Syno was to have a central user database accessible from all of my Linux VMs/environments - ironically some apps ...

Re: DS213+ missing packages

It still runs like a charm and I use almost all available plugins. I did the installation manually with a lot of trial and error, since none of the published procedures worked 100 procent. Great. Which is the best guide to follow? Did you write up/comment somewhere about what works and what doesn't...

Did you find a Synology package for Cacti? Or follow the ipkg approach at http://www.robdehoog.nl/technology/cacti-on-a-synology-nas-how-to/? Is it still working OK?

TIA!

CloudStation 2 and LDAP users not working?

I use Directory Server running on my Synology to manage LDAP users (including home directories) and have just installed CloudStation. I saw I needed the beta version for it to work with AD/LDAP users so have now installed that (2.0-2361 using the beta channel - my DSM is 4.1-2668 and directory serve...
