Re: kern.log "Connection reset by peer" every 34 seconds.

I just noticed something else to add to my previous post. In addition to the "connection reset by peer" messages every 30 seconds, at exactly 40 minute intervals the following sequence of messages appears in /var/log/messages: Jan 2 11:48:57 DiskStation kernel: [327566.520027] connection reset by pe...

Re: kern.log "Connection reset by peer" every 34 seconds.

I'm seeing something very similar after upgrading from DSM 4.3 to DSM 5.2. DiskStation> tail /var/log/messages Jan 2 20:55:03 DiskStation kernel: [360331.705679] connection reset by peer. Re: 4.3 to 5.1...Worth it?

After waiting for two years I finally took the plunge and upgraded my Synology DS1511+ from DSM 4.3-3827 Update 8 to DSM 5.2-5967 Update 2. After backing up all my critical data and downloading the 3 needed .pat files I used the following procedure to complete the upgrade: Shutdown all installed pac...

Re: DS Cloud is totally useless piece of software

Yes, I agree that in this form it's completely useless piece of crap. And it's not true that it it stopped working after Android 4.4 upgrade. I used older versions of Cloud client on Android 5.x from Jan. 2015 until Jan. 2016. Well, the Android was rooted, but I was able to sync the whole SD card t...

Re: Broader USB to serial UPS support

gits68, I'm using an APC SmartUPS rather than a BackUPS but I think my solution may work for you and it's a bit simpler. The only file you need to edit is /usr/syno/etc/ups/ups.conf to change the driver and port parameters. The trick is to add a single space after the existing tab character and befo...

Re: [SOLVED] Asterisk - Call Detail Record (viewer)

Sorry for posting to an old thread but I think I found a better solution to this problem. During the Asterisk package installation one of the things the installer does is create a symbolic link /var/lib/asterisk pointing to /var/packages/Asterisk/target/var/lib/asterisk. Apparently, the installer sh...

Re: Android KitKat 4.4.2 and External SD Card

Under KitKat only factory installed apps have the privilege to read/write to the root of the external SD card. User installed apps cannot.

The fix is a simple modification to a system file.

Root your phone.
Install and run SDfix from the Play Store.
Reboot.
Problem fixed.

Re: Recreating a Disk Group and Volume with the same number

In case anyone is interested, I found the answer to my original question. DSM creates disk groups and volumes sequentially and will use the lowest available number when creating new disk groups and volumes. For example, if you have disk groups 1, 2 and 3 and your remove Disk Group 2, the next create...

Re: DSM 4.3-3827 Update 5

Applied DSM 4.3-3827 Update 5 to my DS1511+ running DSM 4.3-3827 Update 2. The update installed without any problems. I noticed one unusual thing during the upgrade. The system reboot that automatically occurs after an upgrade normally takes about 3 minutes for shutdown and about the same for startu...

Re: Recreating a Disk Group and Volume with the same number

Does anyone know how this works?

If I already have Disk Group1 and Disk Group 3 and then create another disk group, will it be named Disk Group 2 or Disk Group 4?

Same also for volumes?

Recreating a Disk Group and Volume with the same number

I have three Disk Groups: Disk Group 1, Disk Group 2 and Disk Group 3, each containing a single Volume: Volume 1, Volume 2 and Volume 3. Each Disk Group has five drives. I want to replace all 5 drives in Disk Group 2. Volume 2 is empty. If I delete Volume 2 and then delete Disk Group 2 will DSM 4.3 ...

Waiting for some reports on how safe it is to install. If we're the only two looking at this, maybe we should flip a coin... Loser upgrades  Well, it now apears that DSM 4.3-3827 Update 4 has been released. I haven't tried looking for the release notes yet. Since Update 3 had only been ava...

Re: New OpenSSL vulnerabilities

I received the same email notification about DSM 4.3-3827 Update 3 but so far this is the only reference I can find to it in the forum.

Waiting for some reports on how safe it is to install.
