Re: My domain name can't be used in the same network as the router

Short and precise as HP always is. What he ment is that if you want to run and use your public name that you have registerd with Syno inside your local network without using its static local ip, then your router(s) need to support NAT loopback option. There are other options as well (host files on y...

Re: Synology usage scenario [confusion/compilation]

218+ is more then enough. Considering that you can put 12TB drives in it I guess storage won't be a problem as well. + model will open you up to some 3rd pary apps and services via Docker platform if you need to install them (if they are not officially supported from the package center). in short it...

Re: Unable to play films straight off the NAS

Well if they are both wired and your NAS is more then enough to handle this scenario my guess would be that you have a problem with your network or on your pc side

Re: DS918+ vs DS418PLAY

Get a 918 for sure . Its a better nas, more powerful and more future proof. nvm will def help as well but just getting the box without it will be a better exp then with the play model. Personally I'm vary pleased with mine and if you can always go for the + model.

Re: RT1900ac - 3G/4G dongle

Most Huawei sticks are in router mode. That E3372h 153 has a HiLink firmware on it that makes that stick a router. Using that stick in your syno router will mess it up for sure and you will not be able to use it properly. You need to put that stick in a usb modem mode so that syno router is the only...

Re: Plex transcoding and DVR on 218+

That CPU in that model will do fine with it. HW transcode is supported and it will perform well. Personally I run with a 918+ and managed to push it to transcode 4x4K movies at the same time without any problems.

Re: Is DS918+ Right For Us?

Aha there we go. So its not a pure DLNA. If you are using a Media platform such as Video Station then yes you will have limitation regarding its client app, DS Video. In short you will not have any problems with 918 considering it support hardware transcoding cpu. I have tested it with multiple 4K t...

Re: Unable to play films straight off the NAS

How exactly are you playing them? What method (File Station, some media playback software…)? On what device are you trying to watch this content? What format and codec are in question?

Give a bit more info on the matter so we can troublshoot it better.

Re: Migrating to btrfs

If both drives are a part of a single volume then no. You can’t create a new volume if both bays/disks are tied in an existing volume. Copy the data on that new drive using it as an external one. Then destoy your volume and create a new btrfs volume using one of the old smaller drives. After thats d...

Re: Is DS918+ Right For Us?

Considering that you are having problem steraming via a pure Dlna raises a question towards the end your TV. Have you tried to stream those 100GB file via your TV without DLNA? Using a USB drive for example? Are the problems the same? If you have no problem, then you can be sure that the NAS could b...

usiing https inside your lan will work fine if your router supports NAT loopback. Then you can use https without any problem or exceptions just are you would from the outside.

So what direction are you testing these copy transfers? From your NAS, to your NAS, from the outside as well? What protocol is in question? Is there a VPN component included or not?

Plex user created on your nas handles all Plex server needs. Could be that files are in use at the time of the backup.
