Re: Seriously - No help here?

I'm not sure about this. I think it was enabled by default in earlier firmware settings - in actual releases it should be disabled by default.

Re: Folder vanish from "File station"

The users in the File Station can see the folders when they have at least privileges for reading the specified folder. When you access your DiskStation over a windows network (smb) you are able to see all folders, but you will not be able to access the folder, when the user doesn't have the correct ...

Re: Seriously - No help here?

This is exactly the purpose of the guest account - access without password within the local network. You will not be able to use the guest account with FTP, File Station or WebDAV. It will only work with SMB connection and there sould be no security issues when you use it this way. There are several...

Re: Clone Backup

You are lucky - this feature is in actual development by Synology. Maybe available in the second half of 2012. Synology presented this feature called "High Availability Manager" on Cebit this year. You can see a screenshot in our german forum: -> http://www.synology-forum.de/showthread.html?27665-Ce...

Re: Is there an application that does this...?

As soon as Data Replicator syncs, it will delete files on the DiskStation side as well. It will not wait for X amount of time; you cannot configure this. You can set the number of versions to keep - the file will still be there in older Replicator snapshots. You will also have the option to keep de...

Re: Updating to 4.0, put the .pat file on the NAS

Ok - but that is not what happens in this case here. Immediately after pushing the update-button, the DS will stop all services including th windows file service. This is why the PC can't read the .pat file to send it to the DS.

Maybe your DS is busy with indexing multimedia files?

Re: Updating to 4.0, put the .pat file on the NAS

Yes, I understand that which is why I started this thread in the first place. So what is my recourse now? Is there a way to cancel this so I can start over? What is the recommended way to proceed? I don't want to just hit the power button or pull the plug or anything. You can restart your DS throug...

Re: Updating to 4.0, put the .pat file on the NAS

Just restart the DS and try again. An update from the network shares is not possible.

The DS stops all services when you initiate the upgrade process, so the Windows network service will also be stopped and the share is no longer available...

Re: Clone Backup

You will at least have to enter new server settings since both servers can't have the same network settings at the same time. And what is easier than just restore the configuration file? The only other option you have is to put the original hdds into the second server, if it was preconfigured with t...
