Re: Keep getting "Operation Failed"...

In my case, I found that error was happening only while my RAID was rebuilding.
When RAID operation was done - the download error gone.

Re: Brother MFC Scan to NAS

I posted example of my settings in another topic https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=111&t=128789&p=482919#p482919 Your printer details may be different, but in my case I found, that "\volume1" shall not be included in the path provided to Brother MFC device. Only the pa...

Re: Brother scanner "scan to network" does not work anymore

I can't contribute to explanation as of what other experience. But think it may be beneficial to include my settings, which works for me with no issues on my Brother MFC-9340CDW and Synology DS412+ with DSM 6.1. So, I created folder " scans " in the share " share ", accessible to...

Re: Viewing pictures inside windows explorer slow/weird behaviou

I had same issue. I suspect, it has something to do with user permissions. I fixed by disabling caching: Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> File Explorer Enable: - Turn off caching of thumbnail pictures - Turn off the cac...

Re: Keep getting "Operation Failed"...

I have same issue.
Even when I try to download regular file via HTTP (not torrent), I'm getting 'Operation failed'.

Where can I find logs, so I can lookup errors?

Re: access DSM with HTTPS on port 443

Alternatively you can map DSM port 5001 (or whatever you configured) to port 443 on the router.

Re: Battery powered wifi camera?

In my case, I have UPS for my Synology DS412+. And I connect my camera to the same UPS, too.

I think it's good idea.

Re: DS916+

Even though Synology CPU isn't that fast, it probably still capable of running VMs. The problem is that Synology OS - DSM is proprietary and there are no Hypervisors exists for it. So yes, NAS can only be used for storage and for whatever Synology decide to put in DSM. That's unless you want to writ...

Re: How can I sync two Synology NAS in remote

RSYNC is the best: - It is fast - It is reliable - It is incremental - Only one side need to have ports exposed: you can pull or push - It is not proprietary, as Hyper Backup or Cloud Station. So can be used with any other system. It's not UI based, so you need to be comfortable with using command l...

Re: DSM6 and RSync

I can ssh into admin@192.168.100.149 but I cannot read the files in /var/log as they are owned by root and not globally readable. Any way to become root? or read these files? I do not know, which version you are using. But in latest DSM, you can't log as root user. Instead you use `sudo`. For examp...

Re: BTRFS on not-supported models

I think, support for BTRFS is declared in /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf /etc/synoinfo.conf But, I'm not sure, what's name of the option. Can anyone with BTRFS support share your synoinfo.conf? admin@SLAVIKDS412P:/etc$ cat synoinfo.conf unique="synology_cedarview_412+" company_title="Syn...

BTRFS on not-supported models

BTRFS is supported only on limited number of Synology models. I not sure of all the reasons. I think it mostly depends on CPUs and memory. I think, minimum memory requirement in 2GB, but not sure. So, I want to try BTRFS on my DS412+. It's not supported out-of-the box. But some people were commentin...

Re: USB Webcam support package

Fixed issue with Intel driver package so the download link for usb_webcam-6.0-32x86_64.zip is back again. Not tested thoroughly. There's an issue with USB3 stability still (AFAIK patched in later kernel versions, Synology is using the older one) so front USB 2.0 port is preferred for USB webcam. Th...
