Re: DS-416Slim++

+1

The Slim line doesn't have to be so crippled just to keep small form factor. Each revision is barely an upgrade from the previous and so it just limps along. :(

Tried it from another browser or a machine with a different IP (just in case you managed to block your current IP).

Lucky. :)

Any chance you can give us some real life performance specs to compare against your 411Slim? If not actual specs maybe just a impression of relative performance?

Re: Will there be a DS413Slim?

Looks like no 413Slim, however finally:

Now I just need to figure out if it is worth the upgrade since my trust 409Slim is still working fine for my home use.

Re: DS411slim with 2TB drives

I bet that they would; the limiting factor was really the height. I guess if the power and thermal requirements are comparable to the current 1TB selections it shouldn't be an issue. Try one and let us know. ;)

Re: [DS411slim] Does not start anymore

I guess it never shows up in Synology Assistant?

I had something like this happen one time on my 409Slim and I think I had to power off -> remove a drive (I think it was drive 4 for me) -> power back on.

Re: TimeMachine backups fail often

Time Machine over WiFi has been sketchy over wifi for me in DSM 4 and 5; having to ditch all my backups and start from scratch seemed to be a monthly problem. I installed OSX Server on a spare MacBook Pro and pointed Time Machine backups to an attached FW drive. Been working :::knock on wood::: for ...

Re: What is the lifespan of a NAS?

With normal/proper care (as with any electronic component) you should expect it to live well past its warranty. In the case of Synology it will easily outlive their official DSM support - see any of the announcement threads indicating EOL of a series. :) If anything I would expect the hard drives to...

Re: update x09 series to DSM 4.3X succes ! x09+ no succes !!

DS409Slim, set as DS411j, updated to 4.3-3827 without error.

DS 5.x is last release for DSx10 series hardware, so soon they will feel the pain of being EOL'd for reasons other than hardware obsolescence.

Re: Last release for 10-series devices ?????

Not sure what will Synology going to do with DS-412+. This product still on the market and is it have the same supporting period as other x12 series ?! This. I am in the market for a replacement for my dusty (and EOL'd) DS409Slim. The 411Slim is a lame upgrade and I want to switch to full size driv...
