Re: DS1815+ Expansion

You could map the shares of the 2nd NAS into file station of the first one. All data can then be accessed as if they were stored on the same device.

SharedFolderSync can be used for syncing data between different devices, not between volumes on the same NAS!

Re: DS411 with HDD larger than 3TB?

Yes you can if the disks are on the compatibility list. Product specifications are not updated when bigger disks are available on the market.

Not possible.

Either buy a 2nd disk or forget mirroring.

Re: Starting with only one HD [merged thread]

- shutdown the NAS - remove the new 6 TB disk - reboot => volume degraded - shutdown - readd the new disk - perform the steps in my first reply You may have less problems reinstalling the packages if you remove them prior to delete the volume, but in general it will work. Some packages can be backup...

Re: Starting with only one HD [merged thread]

Install the new disk to slot2.
Create a JBOD volume on it.
Move shares from volume1 to new volume
Delete volume1 => packages installed on volume1 will be lost!
Add disk 1 to new volume
Reinstall packages

Re: Pb with a new DS918+ dont start

If the device doesnt boot without the disk inserted, either you need a new PSU or the NAS itself is dead. Useless to wait for Synology support, they will advice you to RMA it.

Re: DS412play took out one disk and now beeping at me

Once again, you are not repairing a disk, you are repairing the volume by adding/replacing a disk. And yes, thats the only option.
You can use a bigger disk, but your available size wont change unless both disks are of the same size.
