Re: DS414 wakes from hibernation WITH NETWORK DISCONNECTED

Not trying to hijack this thread but like to share my results that might help others. I seem to have solved my problem. Followed the route of stopping all apps & used the debug tool. I noticed in the message log that the DS kept trying to open a port. Turns out I'd used the 'external access' interfa...

Re: DS414 wakes from hibernation WITH NETWORK DISCONNECTED

Limited success using this solution for me, disks shut-down for approx 1 min & then restart.

Re: CIFS mount causing kernel panic

Well, It appears I solved this, so far.. It seemed to be a problem with mount location (& perhaps permissions). The following line causes a kernel panic: //ds/homes/leo /mnt/dsCIFS/leo cifs uid=1000,gid=1000,rw,credentials=/home/leo/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,noperm,auto 0 0 The following line d...

CIFS mount causing kernel panic [SOLVED ??]

I have 7 mounts on my Linux mint system for my DS212j. All work correctly except my homes/leo mount which casues a kernel panic. This is the command I use to mount the shares: ds:/music /mnt/dsCIFS/music cifs uid=1000,gid=1000,rw,credentials=/home/leo/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,noperm,auto 0 0 A...

Re: IPv6 equivalent of 192.168.178.*

The reason I'm trying to assign IPv6 privileges is because my modem is issuing IPv6 addresses to local machines. If it's not possible to do with IPv6 addresses I can turn the feature off, but it would be nice to keep it on. Perhaps I'll submit a support ticket to Synology themselves on the wildcard ...

Re: IPv6 equivalent of 192.168.178.*

OK,

Many thanks. What do I actually put in? Is it:

fe80::211:32ff::fe12:2550/64

Or do I need to specify wildcards somewhere to allow all local computers to mount the NFS shares?

Re: IPv6 equivalent of 192.168.178.*

Thanks for the reply. Still don't have my head around this IPv6 stuff.

Yes indeed, two IPv6 addresses shown on the system info. I imagine the one I want is:

fe80::211:32ff::fe12:2550/64 Scope:Link

IPv6 equivalent of 192.168.178.*

Hello All, I've got a DS212j with NFS shares setup. I'm mounting those shares on my Linux (Mint) laptop & have successfully mounted them via IPv4. However my router (Fritz!Box 7270) also issues IPv6 addresses & I've tried to set my NFS privileges to allow IPv6 similar to IPv4 (i.e. 192.168.178.*) bu...

Re: Mounting (CIFS & NFS) on Linux Mint 13 Maya

Hello all, I've been using the above for a couple of months now but I believe, after upgrading the kernel on my linux mint laptop to v3.4.8, I was getting mount errors: sudo mount -a mount error(22): Invalid argument Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) After investigating I ...

Mounting (CIFS & NFS) on Linux Mint 13 Maya

For others interested... I've mounted shares of my DS (DS212j running DSM4) via both CIFS & NFS. Here's my setup Created folders: /mnt/dsCIFS/ /mnt/dsNFS/ Edited file /etc/fstab adding by adding, for example, the lines (note the different mount points on the DS): ds:/volume1/music /mnt/dsNFS/music n...

Does DSM4 suppport idmapd (NFS v4)?

Hello,

Trying to map a user on my client to the same username (different UID) on the DS. I've tried enabling nfsv4 on my fstab with success so I'm hoping DSM4 will support idmapd (http://linux.die.net/man/8/idmapd).

Anybody know if it does? Any example idmapd.conf would be appreciated!

Hard or Soft mount?

Hello All, I've a laptop running Mint 13 Maya & mount folders on my DS using NFS (via both wifi & Ethernet cable). Should I be mount using 'hard' or 'soft'? What about the 'intr' option, as per man page: Selects whether to allow signals to interrupt file oper‐ ations on this mount point. If neither ...
