Re: external usb drive read only

Hi, Could be a file system format issue. Did you try initializing them with DSM while connected to the DiskStation? Of course, provided that there's nothing on them that you care about. Because everything will be *erased*. I’m using two external usb 2.5” drives and I can read/write. One is formatted...

Should be included in the trouble-shooting section in the user's guide. Love it

Re: Compatible UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

I have a DS216J and a UPS – APC ES700. This morning our mains power supply crashed very briefly. My pc connected to one of the backup outputs kept going but the DS did not even though it is connected to the same protected outputs of the UPS. My DS “suffered from power failure and was shut down impr...

Re: Let’s encrypt auto renewal process (how it happened to me)

To acquire a Let's Encrypt Certificate you'll need to have port 80 and port 443 forwarded to your DS on your router.
Do you have that covered?

Re: Failed Login Notification?

I came back to suggest that you use the account auto block option under security Control panel > security > account You can define to auto block the IP address after a specific number of failed attempts. Also define when to unblock or to manually unblock. That’s what I’m doing. Combined with push no...

Re: Let’s encrypt auto renewal process (how it happened to me)

I agree. I'm doing the same on the router forwarding port 80 and on my DS firewall. Close it after renewal. I opened 80 to all the world on the firewall since no one is sure where the let's encrypt renewal is coming from (they won’t say for security reasons and it changes randomly as I read). But no...

Let’s encrypt auto renewal process (how it happened to me)

I was wondering whether my Let’s Encrypt Certificate will auto renew or not. It did. Here's a brief account of how it happened… When there were 30 days remaining to expiration, the expiry date color turned to orange. I opened port 80 on the DS firewall (80, all, all, allow). Of course port 80 is for...

Re: Can't "open" files from Windows 10 using WebDAV

I don’t think it’s your fault configuration wise. I'm experiencing the same behavior on my iOS devices, just noticed it today.
When I browse some folders they come up empty! Only some of them not all.

Looks like a bug.

Re: Which UPS on DS918+

Hi, My UPS model uses one of DiskStation’s USB ports to connect to the UPS. The UPS comes with a cable that has a USB connector on one side and a plug (like a phone plug— an RJ 45) on the other side, that connects to the UPS. Synology’s DSM recognizes the UPS (for my DS and UPS modles at least). And...

Re: Can't get WebDav to work - Mac OS X -

I'm running out of ideas! Here's one final thing (maybe final) to try :-) Go to the WebDAV Server package and make sure the "enable WebDAV log" is ticked. While you're there, make sure that enable HTTP and enable HTTPS are ticked. Even if you don't want to use HTTP, enable it for the sake ...

Re: Can't get WebDav to work - Mac OS X -

Great. I guess this is correct although I don't know anything about how to configure your particular router brand. Usually it looks something like this: http://cache.insteon.com/images/pf-linksys1.png So as long as that is covered, you're done with the router setup. But I guess the proof is in the p...

Re: Can't get WebDav to work - Mac OS X -

Here's something I'm not sure about on your router. On the screenshot above it doesn't show that you're actually forwarding this to a host IP address. Is it on a next step on this configuration page? Is this a port trigger configuration or a port forward configuration? If you have forwarded 5006 to ...
