Re: Asked to send admin password in unencrypted email !

Why would you think they're using unencrypted email?

Any business (let alone one that does tech support) in this day and age should be using encrypted email. If you're using unencrypted email for some reason it's not on them to assume you are.

Re: How can I create a RAID 5 BTFRS volume?

You do realize the DS1515 doesn't support Btrfs right? The DS1515+ does.

Not to mention you can't create HA between a DS1517+ and a DS1515 anyway. There's literally no documentation suggesting this is supported so blaming the company makes absolutely no sense.

Re: Where are the logs for Time Backup?

I totally agree. Useless logs and no way to troubleshoot anything. I will have to just uninstall and forget Time Backup ever existed. Considering it's not supported in the latest DSM and hasn't been developed further since October 2014, I highly doubt Synology cares about Time Backup or when people...

Re: The loss of Time Backup

I'm honestly not sure how this can come of any shock at all. Synology has literally been trying to kill the steaming pile known as Time Backup since DSM 5.0 (read 2 years ago) and have made it known in the release notes. I'ts people that complained and continued to want to use it for some horrible r...

Re: SS8 camera licence changes - Disgusting and a warning to end users

The only way to express concerns is in court with a noose awaiting for the CEO as soon the ruling is in the plaintiffs favor. A stupid form wont do anything. Execution is a strong deterrent to fraudulent behavior. Why does this affect you so deeply that you want TO LITERALLY KILL PEOPLE OVER IT? It...

Re: Intel C2000 Series Failures

If his device fails after the warranty has expired due to the Intel C2000 issue, will Synology fix it? Cisco isn't, unless you paid out the ass for a service contract/extended warranty, which still puts it on the same scale as any other of their routers that are using a different chipset. Why shoul...

Re:  NASmeister - A tool for monitoring and managing your NAS server

The best part about this is that DS Finder does this for free and all with the added benefit of not needing to provide any information to 3rd parties with no ties to Synology. /s As much as I honestly hope no one falls for this, my faith in humanity is so low I'm almost certain a good number of peop...

Re: Intel C2000 Series Failures

It's almost like people don't realize Synology and basically every other company affected are being put under a gag order by Intel.

Synology could just be like Cisco and tell you to go jump off a cliff with a anchor tied to your ankle if you don't pay for their extended warranty.

Re: Same bad Intrusion Prevention performance on new RT2600ac as on RT1900ac

Why would you ever expect halfway decent performance with intrusion prevention services on an ENTRY LEVEL multi-purpose router? Intrusion prevention is something that's generally going to be ran on a dedicated device with better overall hardware. As for why the Synology devs thought it would be a go...

Re: DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9: Obtain GPL source code

You guys absolutely misunderstand the situation. Synology has not provided the source code for ANY of the mentioned updates, they provided the last source code maybe 1 or 1.5 year ago . Guys are asking for the source code again and again not because they want to know about all the small updates but...

Do you just really have nothing better to do than ask for the source code for every single update? Or is your life empty without needing to know every tiny thing that changes?

Re: One down- can I move forward?

Have you tried reaching out to their support? There's a pretty reasonable chance they'll still honor the warranty since it was an indirect result of trying to follow documented procedure. As well, even if the NAS was still functional, they'd likely still offer an RMA due to the reset button being br...

I don't want to sound rude, truly, but are You kidding me? :) I mean, seriously, are You kidding? :) HOW "reduced chance of data loss due to drive failure" could be less important than "overwriting a file or deleting it by stupid user/admin" and this could be pointed out as "reason why RAID is not ...

Re: NAT from eth0 to wlan0

What are you actually trying to accomplish with such an odd configuration?

The NAS doesn't act as a router so there isn't really any way to do port forwarding with it. Is there some reason you don't just have your devices connecting to your actual router?
