Re: HOWTO: Getting NAS listed in Shared servers in Finder

I don't see why all this is needed.
I enable Apple talk in disk manager and it shows up just fine in the finder.

Re: 1TB disks: hibernation & load cycles

Download DOSbox from http://www.dosbox.com/ and place in in your aps folder Eh, you know, you need direct access to the HW for the utility to work. I.e., pure DOS, NOT any emulator, NOT any DOS prompt under XP or whatever similar. Considering DOS has about zero support for USB, no it definitely won...

Re: 1TB disks: hibernation & load cycles

Which is great for you but for us mac users we have no solution. I think i will be looking elsewhere for my products next time and not to synology. Yeah, then don't forget to look for products that are Windows-based and good luck with that. Because this issue has zero in common with Synology and ev...

Slow 4senet Downloads.

Downloading from newsgroups on my CS407 is about 50% slower than my mac, why would this be.

On my mac i can max out my 20meg connection no problem but on the DS i am lucky to get 600kbps.

Any ideas why?

thanks

Re: 1TB disks: hibernation & load cycles

What would you consider an acceptable count? < 10 LCC per hour seems maximum acceptable (when no drive activity) . WD specs for desktop drives, are 300 000 Cycles and 600 000 for enterprise (disk life). If these disks were used in a non Linux environment what would you expect the hourly count to be...

Re: 1TB disks: hibernation & load cycles

I hate to get in the way of a real good debate but can i just ask a quick question?

What would you consider an acceptable count? If these disks were used in a non Linux environment what would you expect the hourly count to be?

Cheers.
