DS216+ slow file operations?

A long time Sinology user, I have just upgraded to the DS216+ equipped with 2x4TB Toshiba X300 drives (7200rom, 128mb buffer). Drives are in SHR (RAID 1) I am experiencing slow moving or deletion of folders and was wondering if others have seen the same? My old DS213+ seems a bit quicker at similar ...

Re: DS215+ in UK/Europe

After what I can find scouring the internet, it seems that the ARM Cortex A15 architecture of the Annapurna AL212 in the new ds215+ could be 40-60% faster than the A9 based Armada and Freescale processors in the DS213+/214+ at the same clock speed, so the potential might be there. How it will impact...

Re: DS215+ in UK/Europe

Specs are there alright; AL212 CPU (ARM architecture), dual core 1.4 GHz 1 GB RAM Dual LAN 2 x USB3, 1x eSata As for a possible DS215play; the 214play and 415play have the same CPU and RAM, so it's a little hard to see a 215play fitting into that without being more powerful than the 415play, which w...

Re: DS215+ in UK/Europe

But the same CPU is also being used by Qnap (TS431+ for example) end Netgear (Readynas 202 and 204), so maybe Synology just went along with the competition?

Any ideas on how the CPU compares to previous models? Specifically the Marvell Armada XP in the DS213+ (1.067GHz) and 214+ (1.33GHz)

Downloaded new version directly from DS in less than one minute!
Updated DS213+ - apparently without issues so far.

Re: DS to DS backup without port forwarding?

Hm, I don't know. I could setup the DS at my normal site as VPN server and see if I can access it from the remote site (which has the restricted internet connection). How could I do backups if VPN is a possibility?

Re: DS to DS backup without port forwarding?

I have tried that, but I can't connect from the source to the destination server. With port forwarding and my old ISP it worked fine.

Re: Synology models compatible with Symform

Apparently you need a DS with at least a 1.6 GHz CPU (it is unclear to what extent multi core processors are taken into account - my 2 core at 1.067 GHz DS213+ being an example). I however have just upgraded to DSM 5.0 and the Symform package is nowhere to be found. It is still present on the Synolo...

DS to DS backup without port forwarding?

At two locations I have a DS with one doing shared folder sync to the other. The problem is I got a new company internet connection at the backup site, which does not allow me to open any ports. I guess I can't use my old setup then, correct? Any suggestions as to how I can still backup from one to ...

Re: RESOLVED: WOL over LAN using Android stopped working

I know it's an old post, but was the patch the 3202 for dsm 4.2? I got that patch for my DS213+ and it solved my hibernation issues...which 4.3 then brought back, with Synology unable to really fix it :-( And now the new DS Finder app for IOS (2.6.1-092) has apparently removed the WOL functionality ...

Re: PhotoStation Conversion Process

I'm having trouble converting video files with the photo uploader in the latest version of DS Assistant (4.2-3508). It report that the files couldn't be converted, so they are only uploaded, not converted. I am trying with 2000 kbps and mobile turned on. Any ideas what is preventing the conversion? ...

Re: [Synology] Shared Folder Sync on [ ] has failed

I am having the same issue between a DS213+ and a DS109, both on the latest DSM. The status in the Shared Folder Sync says 'Warning' in a very light yellow (hard to see) and if I do a Properties on one of the folders in this particular task on the target DS, it reports: Size: NaN GB. Contain undefin...

+1 for the folder name in thumbnail mode - right now it is hard to navigate only by the thumbnails.
