Create a task:

Code: Select all

ls -lahR /path/to/directory > /volume1/SHARE/filesfolders.txt
Replace SHARE with actual share.

Re: Firewall not working?

I have found another post that mentions adding some firewall rules into the LAN and VPN interfaces, but haven't had any luck with those yet, more work to do, but it surprised me that this ruleset would block the VPN like this. Just add a rule on the VPN interface to allow the VPN subnet which Synol...

Re: VPN speeds very slow

No, you`re not missing something.
It can`t go faster then the weakest link.

If the client side download is 10 Mb/s and server side upload 100 Mb/s, it will not go faster then 10 Mb/s.
If the client side upload is 10 Mb/s and server side download 5 Mb/s, it will not go faster then 5 Mb/s.

Agree, they should remove it, much better to learn port forwarding.

Backup and start from scratch..... is always better/cleaner anyway because under the hood it`s less complexity.

Re: OpenVPN settings: which Encryption & Authentication?

Highest:
AES-256-CBC
SHA512

High enough, recommended by OpenVPN:
AES-256-CBC
SHA256

Still ok:
AES-128-CBC
SHA1

Keep in mind, higher is more CPU burden/performance hit.

Re: DNS over HTTPS

The intention is not lost, at least not to me.

In the future asymmetric crypto will be broken anyway, they can read your data then because they recorded it... ;)
But off course it`s a good thing somethings are happening to protect us, just don`t get a false sense of security and privacy...

Re: DNS over HTTPS

There are some misunderstandings going on here.

In the end it makes no difference, DNS, DNS over TLS, dnscrypt, etc.
It`s a matter of trust, ISP, Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, etc., that`s all there is to it.

By the way, from my location 1.1.1.1 is not faster then 9.9.9.9.

Re: Hacking Attempts indicate Synology server security has been breached.

..... How did they get a hold of all the synology DDNS names so they could selectively target Synology NAS's? It`s pretty easy. it appears them must have gotten them by hacking into the Synology server Google advanced search will give plenty results, no hacking required. https://www.google.com/sear...
