Re: swann system vs surveillance station

Sukumar, I wouldn't bother with Synology's Surveillance Station for a multi-camera set up. The license fees are a complete joke. It is unreliable software that (in my view) has been in beta stage for 6 years.

I currently use surveillance station with a 15 camera licence

you will lose your 15 camera license.

Why will he lose his licence? In previous DSM updates, the licences were still valid after the upgrade.

PaulS, either you are trolling or you haven't got a clue what Surveillance Station is. Either way, you clearly haven't followed the sorry Surveillance Station saga at any time over the past 5+ years or you would understand the frustration felt by the OP.

Re: How should Surveillance Station be improved?

rich1000, I used to write similar threads and posts about Surveillance Station a few years ago. Synology never did anything about the points I raised. I remember when someone wrote a thread questioning why Synology introduced a requirement for paid licences, it started becoming quite a popular threa...

or you can just modify the firmware to give extra licenses, so that you can "try before you buy". I expect it would void the warranty though.

Re: Link Agregation

It's my understanding that Link aggregation doesn't do anything if it's only one session copying a file. In order to utilize it and see a differance we need several units copying files. The only explanation: SYNOLOGY "just a little" overstates the performance of their devices, showing the...

Re: Resetting Surveillance Station?

Well, I was very surprised to see a response to a thread that I created over 4 years ago. Since Synology decided to stop supporting my model, I decided to take steps to allow me to install multiple cameras without having to pay for additional licences. It goes some way towards alleviating the 5-6 ye...

For me, "no". I didn't know what to do, and I didn't have time to figure it out from scratch.

NAS is now building RAID5 (quite fast actually) from those drives, so everything seems to be in order. Drivecapasity is 3.64TB each, so RAID5 is 10,73TB total.

Great, thanks for letting us know. :D

Re: Domain Name from GoDaddy, how do I use it?

So, you should: 1) Find out your synology private ip address. 2) Port forward port 5000 on your router to your synology private address. 3) From the internet, access your synology writing on a web browser http://your.dyndns.address:5000 If there is more than one Synology NAS on the private network,...

In my experience, when a hard drive clicks a lot, it means it is failing. Have you looked at the results of the SMART test in DSM?
