How to create a page??

Unless I missed it in my skim reading this page doen't actually tell you how to create a new wiki page and get it to appear in the right place? Someone that knows how please add this info, or if I missed it make the info easier to find.

That's easy: Just point your Browser to the page you want to create. You'll get the option to edit this page. Example: http://www.synology.com/wiki/index.php/new_page

Adding Info

To the moderators, could that info be added to this article (it is write protected so I cant). Otherwise unless someone who is new to wiki's makes their way to this talk page they are going to end up not contributing because they don't know how to. Or like me they will spend literally hours trying to find out.

To anyone reading this that thinks "oh there's not many people that don't know" it is worth remebering there are 360,000 people born everyday, thats 360,000 new people (on top of the existing population of 7 billion) everyday trying to find out how to do stuff for the first time.

RobinGB, please refer to this page for the standards of communications, so that we can all chronologically keep track of the conversation. With regards to your previous question, what info are you asking to be added to the Contribution Guideline? It is locked as any additions must be evaluated before it becomes policy. Hi Franklin, somehow I must have missed your question about what needs adding. There needs to be a section on how to create a new wiki page, i.e. For anyone reading this discussion page, 1) register using the log in link top right to get an account (you cannot modify or add new pages untill you register and log in), 2) log in, 3) if you want to modify an existing page click on the edit link at the top of the page, 4) to create a new page you must modify an exisiting wiki page to add a link to the new page you want to create (e.g. add the text "[[My_New_Page_Name]]" to an appropriate existing page), 5) Save the modified page that now contains a link to the page you want to create, 6) click on the link you created and the wiki system will open a new blank wiki page for you, 7) Type your text and save your new page. Note when you hit the save button you will not be asked to enter a name, the name of the page is defined by the link you created. Thanks RobinGB 20:39, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
