How to conduct Local Restore from a USB/eSATA Disk

Overview

This article will guide administrators into conducting Local Restore between a DiskStation and a USB/eSATA Backup Disk.
Please refer to the Local Backup Article for further information.


Conducting Network Restore

Step 1: Logging in

  • Login to the Synology DiskStation Manager as administrator

Step 2:

  • Proceed to Backup -> Backup and click on Restore.

Step 3:

  • The Backup Restoration Wizard will start.
  • Click on Next to proceed.

Step 4:

  • Select Local Restoration as the restoration type.
  • Click Next to proceed

Step 5:

  • Select the source data folder, containing the backups data files.
  • Click Next to proceed

Step 6:

  • Select which shares should be restored
    • If an existing share of the same name is on the destination DiskStation, contents within this share will be overwritten.
  • Click Next to proceed

Step 7:

  • If needed, restore the user, group, share folder settings, MySQL Database, the Photo Station database, or Blog Entries.
  • Click Next to proceed.

Step 8:

  • Verify the settings of the Local Restoration.
  • Click on Next to proceed.

Step 9:

  • The DiskStation will proceed with restoring data
  • Click on Finish to close the wizard.

Step 10:

  • The Local Restoration progress can be determined in the selected field.
