Cannot access DS1010+ after rebooting PC

Postby aaron_kennison » Sat May 15, 2010 3:13 pm

I have a problem that has been present since I bought the DS1010+ a couple months ago. If I have to re-boot my (Win 7 64 bit) PC I loose access the the DS1010+. Windows always reports "problems reconnecting to network drives" and the DS1010+ is not accessible from Windows Explorer. The only remedy is to log into the DS1010+ through a web browser and force a reboot of the DS1010+. As soon as it re-boots I can access it again. Synology Assistant is useless to resolve this issue. Does anyone know what setting I need to change to fix this?

Thanks,

Aaron

Aaron,

I recently upgraded to WIndows 7 64 bit Ultimate via a clean install. I had to reinstall the synology programs for my operating system as stated on the synology support website. After doing so, I could not access the NAS via my desktop without going through the internet via the port forward. I just found out today that Windows Firewall was blocking my synology assistant from finding the NAS.

I had windows firewall turned off in the control panel and was only using Zone Alarm for my software firewall. Once I shut down Zone Alarm, I was able to see a windows firewall message coming up. I told it to allow for home networks and now all is working. Leave it to Microsoft to have the firewall checking things even though you have it turned off!!!

Not sure if your case is similar but I would make sure all firewalls are off.
