Synology S.M.A.R.T. disk testing

Hello,

Have anyone used/tried the synology GUI SMART HDD testing feature?

The "quick-test" is running fine - and resumes result quickly. But the "thorough-test", always halts at 90% done, even after a whole day standing with this single task. This applies to DS210j and DS207+ both with their latest firmwares, and the disks i have experienced this with is WD15EARS (in ds210j) and WD10EACS (ds207+).

It hangs at 90% - has anyone experienced this? -it must be a software bug...

Did the SMART test ever complete?

I'm seeing the same thing with Western Digital WD15EARS-00Z drives. They moved to 90% within 4 hours, and they've been there for more than a day, not budging.

well its weird, i disabled the harddrive hibernate functionality - didnt seem to solve anything. Then i started the other of the two tests on the same drive - and within a short time they both completed...

I have the same issue but with the quick test. I am running WD Green 5 x 3tb in DS 1511+ all in one SHR disk group with four volumes, disabled all HDs' head parking using WDIdel3.exe, and it hangs on 90%.


At one point in the past that used to work; even the extended test worked; not it hangs although the system is doing no backs or any activities.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem with extended S.M.A.R.T. test on WD20EARS and WD20EARX in my DS1812+.
I also have 1 WD RE4 (FYYS) 2TB in the RAID 6 array and only that drive completed the extended S.M.A.R.T. test.
It looks like the problem is with Green drives only.
Any suggestions?

I had the same issue with my DS213 and WD30EFRX drives using DSM 4.1. After upgrading to 4.2-beta, the SMART test succeeds.
