Synology DS audio iphone app

Postby martinsoe » Wed Jan 27, 2010 2:33 pm

Just gotten the app to work on my iphone and it's a work of art :)

however, i can only get it to work over wifi..
On the 3G network, it can't connect. Is there anything there should be done on the router or on the NAS?
Keeps telling me that the network is not available, or something like that.

im using a dynamic dns and as i said, wifi is working locally and at work. And i have forwarded port 5000 to point at my NAS

thx in advance :)

Possibly you could use your external IP (via DDNS) and then do a Portforwarding at your router (1900, 3689, 50001, 50002). But there are two questions:

1. Do you really want to make your music collection public?
2. Do you have enough upload speed to stream audio files to the internet?

think you might have misunderstood me.

My music collection IS "public", because i can access it over wifi at home and anywhere else with wifi. BUT i can't access it over 3G.
but you still ned to log on to the NAS in order to gain access to the music anyway.

And my question is, is there anything i should do to gain access over the 3G network?
Wifi is working smoothly and without any problem, it's the 3G network that is the problem.

Does Wifi mean your personal router or any connections far away from?

I am like having the same problem, I have tried to look after an instructional on how to acess my nas server from my iphone - can somebody explain this to me :-)

My Nas server is located on 192.168.x.x with my router having 192.168.x.1 - I should then open some forwarding features or something? I suppose that it is safe enough since I would have to logon with my username and password, right?

Best regards

Log in to your router and forward your http port, possibly 5000 if you haven't changed this, to the internal ip of your nas(192.168.x.x)
Then just point Mobile Safari to your externalip:port and your set :-)

DS audio should also work if you have enabled it.

Me three! I posted elsewhere then found this posting. Same deal as above with www.Dyndns.org account and static IP on DS209. Everything else works on the Iphone in 3G ie: Photo station, File staion etc including DS Photo which uploads fine. I opened up ports 1900, 3689, 5000, 5001, 5002 forward to my NAS IP still nothing.

Maybe there is some problem when using dyndns?
Did you try entering your external-IP:port when in 3G mode?

What I have a problem with is the IPhone App which I don't think has anything to do with my Dyndns account, I might be wrong though. What would be nice is if Synology or whoever wrote the app at least respond. Has anyone out there got the IPhone app "DSAudio" to work on other than there local network WIFI?

A friend of mine uses it almost everyday on the 3G network. Myself, i can use it in the GPRS network without problems, exept for my phone bill ;)

Nothing fancy. All i did was this:
1. Used Virtual Servers in my router to forward 5003 to my HTTP port on my DS (5000). This is just cuz I didn't want 5000 to be open to the outside. It's a well known port..
(note. DSaudio can't be used with https!)
2. Launched DSaudio, entered my IP:PORT(5003), username and password. Voila, everything works just great :)

Once in a while I get a connection error message, but this is solved by just trying to login once or twice again :)

Have do you have it set up?

So if I enter 192.168.xx.xx:5000 in my DS Audio app it should work on 3G? I have port 5000 open on the IP address.
