Configure FTP to point to a USB attached drive

Postby richardjj » Tue Jul 28, 2009 6:44 am

Does anyone know if it is possible to have a USB attached drive become a direct target for the FTP server?
When I try to configure the FTP server, I'm unable to select "volumeUSB1" from the drop down list - am I missing something?

I know I can directly connect to FTP via NFS via "path:/volumeUSB1/usbshare".

FYI. I'm using version 2.2 of the firmware but I think I'd be having the same problems with 2.1.

Cheers,
Richard

USB hard drive available over FTP?

Postby mwalsh73 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 9:38 pm

I have a DS109 with 1.5 TB HD installed. I also have a 250 GB USB hard drive plugged into the DS109. Is there any way to access the USB drive from the internet using FTP?

I have the FTP up and working, I just cannot figure out how to map the usbshare1 folder so that I can see it with FTP.

Thank you.

I have never had any trouble with a USB connected hard disk off of the NAS.
I can't really help you except to say that it works for me, the external drive shows up as a folder under the NAS.
I use a mac.
