iPhone Ap DS photo is online now!

Postby s8824 » Sun Jul 26, 2009 6:32 am

Today I went to iTunes Store and searched app with keyword "Synology" then found that another Synology iPhone App "DS photo" is online now!
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=321493106&mt=8
Since Synology not yet announces the news, so I post it here.

It is very easy to use to upload photos from my iPhone.
That's cool~~ I like it 8)
I love DS508 and PhotoStation! *^_^*

Cool concept but I cannot get the app to connect to my DS-207+... I get an "http 404 error" when entering in the setup info on the iphone.

What FW version are you using on your DiskStation? I have 2.1
Also what syntax format are you using for the iPhone DS App setup info?

Description:
Server: (syntax ???)
Account:
Password:
Album:

Thanks, Rick

You need latest beta firmware for this to work.

Before using DS photo, you need upgrade your DS firmware to the newest one (Now is beta 914)
Then install and launch DS photo in your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Setup one set of setting first via the setting page before you upload photos:

Description => Whatever you want to name this setting.
Server => IP of your DS.
Account => Photo Station account which has admin access right.
Password => The password of this account.
Album => Choose an album for uploading or you can create a new album from here.

Then press the save button to save your config, and you can start to upload photos to your DS via iPhone/iPod Touch. 8)

Hope above information helps ;-)

I downloaded it and works out ok. I did get a 2 fails on connecting and then 2 more on uploading a pic to my server... I'd say the following are factors on that tho: DS's connection bandwidth, current downloads/uploads, and the DS that you have, ie its processing ability...

So now I can upload my iphone photos directly to my DS.

An addition to this would be the ability to select multiple pictures. Then it would be perfect.

Does anyone know what port numbers are used?
If any other ports beside 80 or 5000 then some new rules will have to be setup on the Firewall for WAN access with the iPhone apps.

Is there any way to get it to use https as to access through internet I only allow secure connect to my web server?
It seam to work great direct using ip and being on same network. Test with 3gs if that matters.

if someone changed the http port....
just like me...from 80 to 8080

I guess that's the problem, I have a CS406 with DS2.1 but I had Photostation 3 so I thought it might work. Synology has discontinued support for my 406. I am considering upgrading to a 409+ when DS 2.2 is released.
