Peter, have you managed to get video files with .mpg extension to work via DLNA ? I have only had success with .m2ts via USB stick and .VOB via DLNA ? Also what mpg's have worked for you ? mpg1, mpg2 or something else ?

All my MPG files are MPEG-2 either recorded from a satellite stream or with an old SONY video camera. I am really dissapointed about the lack of DVI support. I have many DVDs which I converted to file for easy use by the kids. These are all AVI/DivX and my Sony TVs do not show these (not even move a USB device).

Dear all:

We just got a Sony Bravia 5500 series in the lab. It looks the Bravia only support standard definition mpeg2 video through DLNA. The m2ts (AVCHD) is not supported through DLNA.

Music playing and Photo browsing runs well.

Hope this information helps.

DS209
DSM 2.2-0914
2009/07/14
TV Samsung LE40B650

1. TV do not play any videos avi, mkv, etc (Unsupported file format)
2. When i show photos in JPG format on TV, all photos are degraded to resolution 640x426 (original resolution is 3008x2000) and some photos aren't show because unsupported file format :(.

I tested mimetypes settings for avi but without positive results....
Please can anyone help me?

Hi Thunder,

To fix your image re-sizing issue, Uncheck "View thumbnails when browsing images through DMA" in the media server settings.
The text of this checkbox is misleading, I made the same mistake.

I also have a DLNA Samsung TV, UA40B7100.

I can play .mpg, but no other file types.
I too have had no success with the mimetype suggestions.
Twonky works with other filetypes, but lacks the ability to pause and ffwd.

This thread is now out-dated. Anyone reading this should update to the official release of 2.2 as all DLNA issues have been fixed.

Videos are confirmed to be working on the Samsung UA40B7100 :)
