Restart is missing ??

Postby Loepp » Fri Jul 17, 2009 12:27 am

Hi

Is it just me, or is the restart option been removed from the "options" button in the top of the Disk Station Manager .... Have anyone found another way to manually restarting the box.

Yeah, stick it to the GUI on a visible prominent place... Annoying to say at least.

Same here - Took me a while to find them, would have really missed them as they are really handy when setting up etc.

I think its a better layout to be honest... Although they shouldn't keep moving things without notifying uses... very annoying...

There must be lots of user asking Synology for this issue, there is a FAQ already:

Hi all,

I think also it's a better design, the previous "Start" menu aka Windows didn't have any senses, it's better now.

This is a poor design choice. Shutdown should be easily visible, and should not need to be hunted for. The ability to shut down or restart should not NEED to be looked up in the documentation or hunted for. Should restore it back or have another drop down with the word "power" next to it and make it actually look like a button. Other than that I'm liking this update.

Back in the day of 3.xx firmwares it was in the menu tree with hibernation... Now, thats hunting for the power button...
redtapemedia wrote:The ability to shut down or restart should not NEED to be looked up in the documentation or hunted for

I don't totally agree with you there, it's not as bad as vista with menu with in menu to hunt the power options.

It's next to logout... i would have thought it more common sense to place it next to a logout button... thats how microcrash & linux design it...
Personally, why would you like a power button next to port options?
I Think the way it's been disigned is excelent... your not hunting for it... it's logic that it NEEDS to be next to logout...

Hi all,

I confirm too like this new design. It's better in many points.
The thing before was not very intuitive in my opinion, the worst was you needed to hit "START" to...."STOP" ! What a non sense ! (aka Windows...)
