As an Owner of a DS207,
I know without a doubt the hardware can handle an email server setup.
Looking at the specifications of the hardware, it is clear to see why the 108j has been omitted.
But the DS207 should most certainly be able to run an email server.
I understand this is a beta firmware. And I do see and understand the answer above for the 108j.
But as for the DS207, come on guys, I bought this thing no more than a year ago.
I was happy with the firmware released at the end of 08, and all the effort people put into trying and succeeding in setting up email servers on their synology boxes.
I know 2 other people with the 207's, we had recommended it to each other. All product cycles come to and end i know. However this device (DS207) has been selling in major retail chains. (newegg)
for example since fall of 2008. I never heard of any announcement from Synology stating they would be ceasing firmware improvements for the 207. You don't sell a product on the market and then less than 6 months after it starts to disappear, discontinue support for it. That is just rude.
Give us our mail server Synology, even if you have to put a disclaimer or check box in the firmware for the 207 owners.
We know the email server can be done on the DS207. Give us one final Firmware before you put us out in the cold.
