package (spk) Config File Editor

Postby merty » Tue Nov 25, 2008 8:25 pm

Hi everyone,

I've made a new package that will make it easier to edit config files without the need to learn VI, move files or try to figure out difference between DOS and UNIX line endings. This package will add the 3party program 'Config File Editor' to your admin page. When first started, it will copy existing configuration files als a backup. Therefore, if you messed up a configuration file, you can always hit the 'orignal' button to get the first backup back.

It is also possible to edit the configfile of this program itselves. By doing this, you are able to add your own text/configfiles to this program.
Keep in mind that altering configfiles can be a risky business. In worst case, you could make your DiskStation unaccessible, which forces you to reload the firmware again.

You can find it here: http://www.mertymade.com/syno/#cfe

Regards,

Remco

Thanks for the package.

I would like to be able to have an option to print the config file to the USB printer after viewing it.
Would this be possible ?

Hello,

I have made a test with the followind adress and it seems to work. I have first tried to uninstall and reinstall it so I have lost my configuration files, but it works for the default ones.
You must login as admin like usual and after that you go in

http://SYNONAME:5000/webman/3rdparty/CFE/index.cgi
With SYNONAME that must be replaced by the IP or the name of the syno.

I have not tried with https (I have not tried to change anything too.) but you can see the files.

Hi,

I used Merty's SPK and made a copy compatible with DSM 3.
Download available here : http://syno.diaoul.fr/SPKs/CFE (site currently down, should be back online tonight)

Power users:
Source available here : https://github.com/Diaoul/syno-packager/
You can make the SPK yourself like this (Linux computer only) :
Code: Select all
cd ~
git clone https://github.com/Diaoul/syno-packager/
cd syno-packager
make -f CFE.mk release

Browse to ~/syno-packager/out/ and here is the SPK.
