Dead LAN link after udating to FW 2.0-0637

Postby surffan » Fri Jun 20, 2008 10:30 am

After uploading the firmware 2.0-0637 to my Disk Staion DS107 the Station rebotes. After the reboot, the LAN link can not be established. The LAN led is dark and a link can not be established nether with connecting directly to a PC oder connecting to a Switch. The Station boots "normaly" and reports after the booting with a beep. The Status LED and the DISK LED is green.

Hm this is very angrily. Has someone occurred with this error, or can give me some advise.

Thanks Mike

Greetings surffan

This has not been seen before and is most likely related to a hardware. Please try using a different Ethernet Cable and see if that improves your behavior.

Another thought

Power off DS
Remove DS cover
Disconnect power cable of the HDD
Power on the DS and see if that creates a LAN connection

Hope this helps

Thanks Franklin

I diconnected the HDD and started the disk and the the LAN Led was ok with the same cable. After installing the HDD the Lan link was not established.

The i took the hard way. I attached the HDD to my PC and copied the data. The i formated the whole disk and reinstalled the Disk Station with the Synology Assisten, and then the Firmware 2.0-0637 worked.

I tried to find some information in the log files on the disk, but i hadn't time to check them.

Thanks for your advises anyway.
