Hallo,
I'm new here. I tried with the help of this post : viewtopic.php?t=1478 to downgrad back to 518 (i replace the version file with the 514 with use of telnet).
But when i will upgrade i have a message that tell me that it is not possible.
So i try to restart my DS107+ and now nothing goes. The status led blink yellow and DS will not start ever ?
Can someone help me ?

What happens when you use the Synology Assistant? Can you reload the 518 OS using the Synology Assistant?

Hello,
i've also tried to downgrade my CS-406 with one HD from 571 back to 524.
I've deleted all partitions on the drive manually with my PC, put it in the Cubestation again and tried to install the 524 Firmware with the Synology Assistant.
After creating the partitions on the disc the assistant told me that i had to use an firmware file greater than 571.
Therfore i installed the 571 again without any Problems.
But there it also a notice on the Website, that there is no way back after installing the Beta-Firmware!

officialy yes, its not possible to downgrade.
But in the underground part of this forum you'll find a way to downgrade. it works with 571 too.
Note, you first have to install the new FW, then change the file VERSION, then install an older FW. And THEN you can delete the partitions and reinstall another FW from scratch. If you remove the partition BEFORE this procedure it wont work as you also delete the changed VERSION file.

Thanks for responses. With assistant, i have successful returned to 571 and all is ok ! But i still can't make a downgrade as it is explained with replacing the VERSION file. This technik seems not going with new 571...same problem as alfred.

Yes it works also with 571, I did it myself on my DS-207+ and with my Ds-106x
There are 2 VERSION files, /etc/VERSION and /etc.defaults/VERSION I cant remember which one I changed.

On my NAS, only /etc.defaults/VERSION is up to date (shows the right version number) so i guess that's the one which needs to be modified
