This is just a hunch but I believe this will do the trick

Code: Select all
cp /opt/local/mt-daapd/etc/init.d/firefly /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S99firefly.sh

This will put the firefly startscript in the correct "autostart" catalogue.

Unable to test it atm as i'm at work.

Paul,

Your firefly doesn't start up because it can't load your shared libs. It don't know where they are. You exported the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in your /root/.profile. But it's only for your login session. Can you understand?

The solution is to export LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the file /etc/rc. I placed it at the beginning of that file. Another way is to export it at the beginning of the file /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S99firefly.sh you placed. Then your firefly can start up properly while booting.

I think I understand, yes! And I have applied the change and it all now works.

I should start reading about linux!

Thanks all for all your help, it's now up & running and happily serving songs to my Roku and itunes clients.

Mike,

That all looks good regarding autostart. The one thing that didnt work correctly, was when I un-tar'ed the libraries, they ended up in the wrong place.

I copied the tar files into the root, and typed tar -xf libfilename, but they didnt end up where they should!

Ahh... That is because they where untared into /opt/local/<program_name> so that people more easily can see what is included in the tar file. That is why they are needed to be moved. I've updated the Wiki with the info.

Mike,
Cheeky request this, especially after all you have done, but is there any chance you could compile one of the nightlies releases? There's a feature based around compilations that isnt in the 0.2.4.1 release that makes firefly much more friendly on a Roku.

If it's a lot of trouble dont bother, I can live with what I have.

cheers

Back... Works fine for me now although can't really see the difference :D

You need SQLite which is found on the Wiki

And also the new mt-daapd from the link below
Firefly build 1696

Both untars in ./<name>

Good luck...

Mike,

Sorry but I cant seem to work out where to untar these files, any tips?

The reason I want it is there should be a group compilations setting in the UI, which means that the individual artists are not shown if they are in compilation albums.

Thanks
Paul
