How about the package or functionality of SMEStorage.com, which could provide access to multiple clouds, for backup, sync, etc.

Since video doesn't work over HTTPS how about a web based player that supports it like JW Player. If you can't install VLC or you actually want a a secure server it would allow video to be workable. As it is video station is a cool idea but it won't work for many of your users.

Crashplan support would be very helpful. They have an unlimited family plan for $6/month that would allow me to configure my DS for maximum storage and no disk redundancy so I could rely on Crashplan as my backup protection.

This crashplan package works without any problem (follow the instructions near the bottom of the page). The only slightly complicated part is the Java package, which is also provided here but requires you to download Java from Oracle and transfer it onto your DS yourself.

AnySee E30TC Plus DTV support

Postby eelco2k » Sun Jul 15, 2012 1:28 pm

Dear Synology support,

Hopefully there will be support for the AnySee E30TC Plus DTV. because i saw in the 4.1 beta there was an option of recording video from DVB-T (specific models). Hopefully the support for the AnySee E30TC Plus DVB-C/T will also be implemented.

This thread is not serving its original purpose. Over 30 pages and 450 posts.

There's no evidence Synology read it, and people's suggestions very easily get lost or forgotten about.

There must be a better way of creating a wishlist and adding to it?

It would be great with some sort of system, where you could suggest packages / features and other members could vote. Things get lost in here and there has to be a way to prioritize all these suggestions.

One app that can automatically determine whether to use the internal ip or the DDNS, and all other apps you wish to use are just addon's to it determined by the priviledges set on the account your logging into the NAS with.

The more functions this NAS has (which is awesome) the more apps I need to use them, the more time wasted switching between file station/synodroid (soon to be DS download if it is any good)/ds audio/ds finder/ds photo/ds cam. And each one has to be tweaked manually to log in depending on where i last logged in (either DDNS or internal ip).

Perhaps I'm just spoilt with Synodroid automatically determining my connection method, but surely its not too hard to the Synology apps to do the same, and be bundled together so I don't have to constantly log out of one and into the other, just seems so unnecessary.

Edit - Just realised "Package" refers to an addon on the NAS itself, whoops, well this kinda still applies as it is the apps that interact with some of these packages.

Is there any chance of adding a configuration option within the GUI to activate and configure SMB signing on the Synology units? It is possible to make the unit use SMB signing, but it is only possible by manually editing the SMB.CONF file in the underlying OS. It would be better if this option was available in the GUI.

For the new user (like me), I would have saved a lot of time when I installed 2 new 3TB drives in a new DS712+, if there was a message informing me that one of the drives was dead. Instead, I got a message that "everything is ok." It wasn't till I noticed that the dead drive was not listed on the drive list that I swapped the drives between the bays and found that it was still not listed.

If there was some physical sensor that could detect whether a drive is installed but not recognized and display an appropriate error message, it would save a lot of time.
