Samsung TV, DS411j, all folders show up DLNA

I have just moved from a pc with Samsung PC ShareManager as DLNA server to a DS411j with the Media Server app enabled.

It works fine so far, only one annoying problem that wasn't present with my previous setup:

When I go to MediaPlay on my TV, and choose the "Pictures" function, I am presented with all the three shares I have made on the DS411j - e.g. from within the TV's image-browsing I can see the "photo", "video" and "music" folder, and not just the relevant folder, which would be "photo" when I'm browsing for photos on the tv.

On Samsung PC ShareManager it was so that when browsing pictures from the TV I was only presented with the folder containing pictures, and not the folders containing music and video.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have the DS411j behave like it should according the the DLNA standard?

As far as I'm aware there is no standard for this, being able to jump into the root section of photos or videos bypassing the top level is a custom or rarely used feature of DLNA.

Samsung Allshare server is not DLNA standard despite what they say it is full of custom stuff specific to Samsung devices.

I have the same problem and it is quite annoying. I just got my Diskstation, and was previously using Mezzmo which allowed me to go directly to my videos when I clicked on Videos in the TV.

Shouldn't it be possible to set this up somehow, maybe with the device profile?

Another problem that I have is that if I am 2 folders deep and press Upper Folder to go back, I get this error: Request cannot be complete. MEDIA PLAY will be return to the main screen. (yes, the error is there on the TV)

I dropped the build in Media Server and installed Serviio on the DS411j. That fixed everything. I can recommend that solution!
