SYNOPHOTO:THUMB

Postby lks » Wed Sep 07, 2011 1:48 am

I would like to directly upload my own photos to the Synology NAS using my existing photo workflow instead of using the Synology upload assistant.

For each image in the photo directory, say /volume1/photo/directory/filename.jpg, Synology also creates the following files in the directory /volume1/photo/directory/@eaDir/filename.jpg:

SYNOPHOTO:THUMB_B.jpg
SYNOPHOTO:THUMB_L.jpg
SYNOPHOTO:THUMB_M.jpg
SYNOPHOTO:THUMB_S.jpg
SYNOPHOTO:THUMB_XL.jpg

Is it possible for me to generate these thumbs automatically and have my program copy both image and thumbs to the appropriate directory, thereby avoiding Synology's automatic thumb generation?

Also, is there any way to copy these files from a Windows client (i.e. can I do it in Windows Explorer or would I have to use something like ftp)?
lks

Problem is windows cannot handle : in a name.

I'm wondering if someone tried to get rid of the : in the SYNOPHOTO:THUMB names by replacing it with SYNOPHOTO_THUMB
The names seam to be used only in:
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/convert.php
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/include/syno_conf.php
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/m/include/synophoto_mobile_conf.php
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/mApp/include/synophoto_mobile_conf.php
/usr/syno/etc.defaults/thumb_high.conf
/usr/syno/etc.defaults/thumb.conf
/usr/syno/etc/thumb_high.conf
/usr/syno/etc/thumb.conf

Anyone tried? Are there more scripts or programs that contain the SYNOPHOTO:THUMB in it?

Found some more files:
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/etc/index/libphotoindex.so
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/picasa_utils.php
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/javascripts/synoblog_index.js
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/javascripts/synophoto_common.js
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/javascripts/dialog_image_chooser_tinymce.js
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/javascripts/synophoto_slide.js
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/javascripts/synophoto_theme.js
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/javascripts/synophoto_setting.js
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/facebook/fbutils.php
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo/include/synotheme_upload.php
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo_scripts/sql/upgrade/001_photo_upgrade.sh
/volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo_scripts/makethumb.sh

Did the replace on all except picasa and facebook files.
Replaced also in libphotoindex.so although that was a binairy...hope that went ok using joe???

If i start regenerating thumbnails by starting /volume1/@appstore/PhotoStation/photo_scripts/makethumb.sh nothing happens: no thumbnails get removed, none generated. No thumbnail generation process visible.
If I manually make SYNOPHOTO_THUMB_*.jpg files they are visible in online Photostation.
DS Photostation on Android also works.
DS Photostation on iPhone does not update, so something seems hardcoded here...it shows the old image on the location where I put the SYNOPHOTO_THUMB_*.jpg images and nothing on the other locations where there are still SYNOPHOTO:THUMB_*.jpg files. Don't understand how it works.

...I give up and reinstall Photostation.
So no Windows based offline thumbnail generation. As there are no Linux clients around, speeding up the thumbnail generation on the DS209 seems te only solution now.

Does anybody know if DS-assistant reads the thumb_high.conf file?
