Sounds Easy, but... can't move folder from computer

Postby scdatm » Fri Jan 13, 2012 7:38 pm

(DS211j)All I want to do is copy a folder from my computer to the DS. I've done it before by simply dragging and dropping the folder. However, I get this error:

Failed to upload "folder name"
Unknown error occurred because it might be a folder.

Anyone know why this is suddenly causing problems?

Thank you in advance.

I'm having this issue too - is there something we're not understanding as to how to transfer files? I've searched all over to find an answer for this issue and have not found an answer.

Please help.

iMac 27-inch Late 2009 OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53) connected by ethernet cable to my Livebox (router)
Synology ds1512+ running DSM 4.0-2228 connected by ethernet cable to my Livebox (router)

Hello everyone,

After searching on all available resources and all throughout this forum, I am coming here to seek your help, hopefully one of you can point me in the right direction to solve my dilemma.

I have just purchased a DS1512+ and am trying to simply transfer folders that are on my computer over to the server via drag and drop with the File Station open. Once I have dragged a folder from my open Finder window over to the FIle Station window I get the following message: "unknown error occurred because it might be a folder". I tried it from my MacBookPro with the same result. Drag and drop of files work fine, this problem only occurrs when I try it with folders.

This question has been posted on viewtopic.php?f=111&t=45985 on January 13th, but with no replies. any help would be very welcome.

TL;dr = "unknown error occurred because it might be a folder" when trying to drag and drop folders to File Station.

Are you using Apple File Services (AFP) via the finder to access and copy files to your NAS? I know there is an update to Synology DSM that is coming out with updated Netatalk (Apple Talk) patches.

Thank you for the reply!!!
Im using the finder File Station in the NAS, the folder with the magnifying glas on. If thats what you mean with AFP?
If its not, where do I find the AFP?
When do you think the patch is coming out?
