The package is for ARM based diskstations.
Your diskstation DS210+ has Freescale mpc8533E PPC Processor.

Maybe that is the reason why.

Great package, but I'm having some small issues.

I'm using a Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP with a DS212J.

Your package works fine when installed, and I can pull up the camera with no problem using the installed "Webcam" app.

However, when I try to add the camera in Surveillance Station using the settings you gave, it spits out the error: "Failed to connect the camera. Please check the following settings of the camera: IP address, hostname, port number." Any clue why that might be happening?

Thanks for all your help!

Did you enter the settings correctly ?

Code: Select all
IP: 127.0.0.1
Port: 5000
Brand: [user defined]
Source path: webman/3rdparty/webcam/webcam.cgi

Also if you are using the HTTPS protocol. You have to enter port 5001.

This is a great effort. May I ask how can we directly access the URL without having to login to the Synology main page. Tried DS Cam on iPad where it has a Direct camera access, strange is not there for iPhone, when I try to add camera, no luck it getting it to work. And when using the DS Cam app, and when the webcam is disable, there isn't a way to enable it within the app. I do not need live recording just only the ability to view when needed of course externally (I am sure there is an easier way).

For security reasons webcam.cgi requires authentication.

If you don't want that, you will need to remove the following lines from webcam.c and recompile it:

Code: Select all
if ( strcmp(remote_ip, "127.0.0.1") != 0 && !is_admin() )
{
        send_error("Not authorized. Must either be logged in as user 'admin', or IP must be localhost");
        return 1;
}

I got everything up and running nicely, including surveillance station, thanks to some help from above.

Now the issue seems to be that my DS212J does not want to hibernate! It will not sleep with the software installed, without it, with the webcam plugged, and without it, and all combinations thereof. I have checked var/log/messages and the sections starting with hotplugd seem longer than they were before I first installed this package, even though the package has been uninstalled and I have since rebooted the box.

Any clue why my system isn't sleeping? It did sleep perfectly fine before I installed this package.

Must be something unrelated.
The drivers are only loaded into memory when the webcam is actually used, and are gone from memory after reboot.

Oops - you're absolutely right. I had just updated to a new version of Sickbeard which has a postprocessor issue that keeps Synology devices from sleeping. I have fixed the issue on my end and now everything works fine.

Thanks for confirming how great this package is!

It would be great to have sound support for webcams. You can produce a new package?

Thank you very much.
