SAMBA in NAS

Postby Aitrus » Thu May 24, 2012 12:53 pm

Hi,

Actually, I can share my DS 212j Synology's content with mi PC and WebTV through DLNA protocol, but I can't share through SAMBA protocol. I can't find the right option or what steps I have to follow tho share this way. Someone can help me? From now, thanks a lot ;-)

Did you enable the Windows File Service in the Control Panel under Win/Mac/NFS ?
That's for CIFS/Samba file sharing ...

That's all ... you should be able to open shared folders on your DS in Windows or from media-players now by browsing your local network.
What exactly is the problem ?

Hi, the problem is that I don't see my NAS's folder thorigh SAMBA protocol in my media player. I can see them through DLNA and I can see Windows7 folder through SAMBA...but not the NAS folders.

Any idea?

I had something similar with my mediaplayer (EM7075dts) when it tried to connect to the NAS as 'anonymous', you should connect with a user that has permission to the folders you want to use ...

Mmm...this sound good, but the problem is my mediaplayer (webtv for get smart TV in a regular TV) don't offer any option to configure that. It has a simple option to detect the device in the network and only that. Or it appears there or don't appears :-S

And I dont know how to do for the IP NAS appears. Any other idea? Thanks a lot!!

There is a way to configure that a particular IP (WebTV in my network) can access to the files/folder I want? I mean, like a user group, but with IP permission. That way, instead of remove the pass of the folders, I could allow access to certains folder only to the WebTV (with its particular IP of the internal network).

Otherwise, how I can configure the folder to remove the pass? (in case the solution above can't be done). It's this a secure method to proceed? There's a middle way to that (a configurable user or group of users wich allow connect without pass but with a bit of security).

Thanks a lot. I want to see my files by Samba protocol already!! xD
