NZBget + SickBeard ... how-to ?

Postby Ltek » Sun May 20, 2012 4:39 am

I'm interested in trying NZBget since I have read some people posting a large speed increase over using SABnzd (which I'm using now).

A few questions...

1) Does NZBget take up less less resources than SABnzd? If yes, how much less? (I have a 212j, not a power house)
2) Can we still use SickBeard's post processing with NZBget?
... if not, is anything similar to post process?

thx!

NZBget is less resource intensive than SAB, but I can't quantify how much. From what I've read over the past few years, most people seem to say "a lot" when using lower power NAS models.

The way I use NZBget and SickBeard is as follows:

- NZBget provides a postprocess.sh script that you can use as a starting point. This does PAR checks, extraction of archives, cleanup, and ability to move files to designated folders based on a defined "Category" field which is populated in NZBget config. You can have this script do a lot of other stuff, but I just use it for these listed purposes.

- Create an NZBget category for TV shows and modify the postprocess.sh so it moves processed files selected as TV into a unque folder.

- SickBeard has a setting in it's Post Processing to monitor a folder, point this to the unique folder you defined above

- SickBeard will monitor this folder automatically and apply the Post Processing settings you define in SB
