Hello everyone,
I recently bought a NAS Synology DS212+.
I'd like to know if it is possible to remove my current server, and set NAS with Active Directory to authenticate the client computers. (create a domain in the NAS)
Is it possible?
Thanks

tseward wrote:No, Active Directory only runs on Windows Server. It is Microsoft's implementation of LDAP. For instance, it doesn't use the same default attributes for user identification that OpenLDAP (what Synology "Directory Service" (LDAP)). There are lots of other differences as well.
You also cannot join Windows machines to the Synology's Directory Service.

Note: Directory Server does not support Windows domain, so you are not allowed to bind your Windows PC to
Directory Server to join Windows domain.
