DS712+ Hibernation

Postby marcosg » Tue May 29, 2012 3:46 pm

Hello,

I've just got the DS712+ and noticed that when it goes to hibernation mode the HD stop spinning but the cooling fan keeps running very silent.
Is it supposed to be like this or the fan should stop as well as the DS212J model does which I also have.

Thanks
marcosg

I don't know specifically for the 712+, but some of the DS models indeed keep the fan spinning even during hibernation (e.g. the 210j). Some boxes might just need that if CPU (which is always running) needs continuous ventilation.

Thank you so much.
I was afraid that my unit was bad.

Thanks again

Hi!

i'm trying to setup a working vm running DSM, but the only thing missing is the proper bootloader, as Synology doesn't make use of a traditionnal mbr/grub but relies on a flash booting device (either on x86-based 712+ or on arm based devices).

on the 712+ also, it should be in /dev/mtd and would be a 128MB flash image. would someone dump & compress it and upload it on a server of his choice?

thx in advance!
