Ports for Synology Assistant

Postby benjibarnicals » Mon May 21, 2012 9:59 pm

Hi all,

I have the firewall running on my DS to block everything except for the services I need. I have allowed the "Synology Assistant/Network Backup" service using ports 1234,9997,9998,9999. However the Synology Assistant app (for Mac) won't connect. If I turn the Firewall off, no problem. So, my question is, what other ports are required to be on for the Assistant app to work.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi

Per definition you have opened the right ports, but if you need access via DSM, then port 5000 needs to bee opened.

Check all ports here

Hi,

Yes your right, for some reason the Synology Assistant requires port 80 (Web Station, PhotoStation etc) and Port 5000 (DSM Desktop). Even though I run everything over HTTPS!

Odd.
