I just got my Synology DS1512+ from Amazon and was able to set it up without issue today.
I installed 2 WD Caviar Black 2TB HDDs in RAID-0 as a "single-volume" array to serve as my 'media server' cum back up.
I started to transfer files (pictures, music, and movies/videos) from my Windows 7 x64 PC to the Synology device and it shows a constant transfer rate/speed of ~ 23 MB/s!
The product is advertised on Synology's website as having transfer speeds of "194.83 MB/sec Writing, 200.31 MB/sec Reading". My transfer speeds are about 1/10th of the advertised speeds! I have a Gigabit connection from my router to the Synology device. All the connections and devices seem to work fine. Why on earth is the transfer speed so slow?
Is this false advertising on the part of Synology? I am pretty ticked off that it is not performing to its advertised specs. I will return the product if I don't get a solution from Synology right away.
Can someone from Synology help get me the transfer speeds as advertised?
