File sharing without user and password?

Hi,

I'm using my NAS only for the home and I would like to not to have to enter user and password from different "location", like my WDTV or Windows. It's possible?

I cannot create a "blank" user.

Yes you can, just enable the "guest"-account and setup appropriate permissions to the shares.

I forgot that there are some restrictions you have to consider. Please refer to the following thread:

If you have a windows user, that is unknown on the DS (means there is no such user setup on the DSM), then the guest solution works

If the windows user is known, then it doesnt work with guest permissions, you ave to give this user permissions to access the share.
