This already exists, each package can be stopped in the package center, in the installed list

No, not at the package level, but in the settings to enable or disable the source.

How do you log into Web Console? on installation and package running it just shows the Login screen, can't connect with any DS username/password.

Can the "Web Console" and packages from other sources be stopped using the stop button?

No you can't stop the package, why would you want it to stop? If you install the package, you can run the script. If you don't run the script, the package doesn't do anything and will not use any resources.

There's one little problem with that status 'not available' ... I get the same as with the SynoCommunity Python 2.7 package.
Everytime Package Center is opened, you get this line in /var/log/messages every couple of seconds :

Code: Select all
May 19 00:30:32 PkgMan.cgi: pkgtool.cpp:2445 No script for webconsole

HW : Conceptronic CHD3NET, ACRyan Playon!HD, Eminent EM7075dts, Wii U, PS2

What's the problem with the message? It's just a message right?
I can create a start stop script, but it wouldn't do anything. So you can push start/stop, but nothing happens.

Well, it's not just a message, it's loads of messages which make it a PITA to scroll your /var/log/messages for stuff that matters.
I was hoping it was simple to fix, as Python which also has status 'not available' and is also non-startable like WebConsole, does the same. But Java, also non-startable has status 'stopped' and does not spam the message-log with useless messages ...

I noticed the errors and changed most of my packages. Almost all the packages are now startable and stoppable.

I've added the repository, but I don't see MediaInfo in my list of available packages.

Does that mean it's not available for my model of NAS? Thanks.

I don't have the ability to test or develop for PPC Synology's, because I don't have one. So most packages (some depend on Java) are x86 and ARM only.
If someone could give me root access to their PPC Synology, I could try to create PPC packages.
Look for your arch here: http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.ph ... y_NAS_have

Is there any chance that someone knows of a pack edge that will allow us torun a web browser (even a minimal on) inside the DSM UI? Basically what I'm looking for is a way to connect to my home server for browsing (and grabbing torrents) via SSL. My company blocks SSH Tunneling. The only bypass was to route SSH through HTTP and there's not a pack edge for that either.
