No thumbs after reboot; just grey boxes...

I have a DS212j running DSM 4 and photostation 5. For the last three weeks the box has been "converting" my 16,000 pictures (only 2,983 to go), which I understand to mean generating thumbnails for each. Until recently I could log-in to photostation remotely and see thumbs for the folders the system had already indexed, and grey placeholders with spinning progress wheels for the remainder.

Now when I log-in all I have for the previously-indexed photos are grey boxes without spinning wheels. The folders and files are there but no thumbs. If I click-through to a picture I get an empty box.

I'd be very grateful for advice on what's going on here, and how to refresh the system so the thumbs appear. Obviously like everyone else I want to avoid doing anything that means re-indexing the works. Thanks in advance.

If I log-in from inside my LAN the thumbnails appear just fine. From outside the thumbs are gone and the photos not accessible, regardless of the browser.

I'm still facing this problem: from inside my LAN the thumbs appear fine, but from outside Photo Station loads up as usual but the thumbs are gone. Just grey. Can anyone offer any solutions? Thanks in advance for this.

I am having the same issue. Been like this for about a month. Even after media indexing several times. Updated DSM, but I've got nada. I can't see photos or videos in or outside my network. Been searching now and then for updates on this issue...

Ditto. No pictures.
Even if I click on an album I'm not allowed inside.

It's been like this as long as I can remember - having upgrading from DSM 3.0 -> 3.1 -> 3.2 -> 4.0.
I suspect the system carries on some old stall files that messes it up, but wiping the system is obviously not an option :/
