The Paragon drivers are ok for sure. I use their NTFS driver. But that's not the point. Making a backup to EXT4 is quite useless in case of a complete HD crash on my iMac or MBP. How am I ever able to make a direct/quick full restore from a sparse bundle that's not on a natively supported disk? A network recovery through the US2 would take ages (the full NAS option is a different cookie).

(or am i missing something?)

Apart from that: I don't own 4 external (and therefore mobile) HFS drives to let them be tied to my NAS solution.

Just a few thoughts on that from a new USB Station 2 owner.

Or... is USB Station 2 seen as end of the road/end of life, 'a mistake' or a 'hobby' by Synology? I hope not! I would be glad to do some beta testing for a while too. Or -as i said before- to pay if a license is involved.

2006-2012 just seems to be quite a long timespan for a filesystem that's fully implemented for a decade this year.

Well, hope to hear from Synology soon on this matter - even if it's a: 'no it won't and never will come'.

+1

Just bought a 212j and can't believe how complicated it's going to be to move my 2tb of files from HFS drives to the 212j.
My choice is either 4 days of transfer over wifi or...well, I'm not sure what other options I have right now!

So HFS support, please!

I too would love to see HFS+ support. Very inconvenient not having it.

In the end I made a usb hard drive up with NTFS and used Paragon NTFS for mac to move files over - all 1.8tb.
I had reboots through the file move and now get -8084 file errors from the macs moving files from the device, so to be honest, I'm not feeling great about this right now.

This feature is sorely needed for Mac users wishing to migrate to a Diskstation. I'm slowly filling up a 412+ over the network and the process is painfully slow. I'm in a mixed PC/MAc enviroment at work, and so far I'm really enjoying the new DiskStation, enough to consider buying one for home, but not until it can read a HFS+ volume over USB.

Reason being, I'd like to be able to use an external usb3 drive connected directly to my Mac as for aperture master storage, and back up directly to the nas. Open to alternative suggestions though.
