Have you tried logging in as user Admin ? That works in my case. Any other user fails, even though privileges seem identical !

PPTP error 619 on Windows 7

Postby Montago » Tue May 08, 2012 10:56 pm

I'm trying to setup PPTP
I'm on the newest DSM 4.0 with the newest version of VPN package

I've managed to setup VPN on my iPhone 4 IOS 5.1.1 which works every time i want to connect over 3G

using Windows 7 its another story:

Same LAN: connecting to 192.168.1.50 - no problem
Same LAN: connecting to external IP - will not connect (suspecting error 619)

Using iPhone as hotspot on 3G connecting to external IP : Worked ONCE, then i get error 619 on every try thereafter !

From my workplace i'm getting Error 619 everytime i try, never succeeded to get VPN connection

EDIT: 10-May-2012

I've spent some time setting up my Windows 2008 server to function as Domain controller, RRAS (VPN + NAT) and IIS ...

I'm able to connect with VPN on iPhone4 IOS 5.1.1 using the PPTP protocol, but not with Windows7 !! - After installing SSL certificate i'm now able to connect to VPN using SSTP.

This lead me to believe that the Error 619 is a Windows 7 problem, and not a problem with Synology VPN ...

NAS firewall permits port 1723

Router ALG (Application Layer Gateway) uncheck PPTP
Client PC firewall permits inbound port 1723

:-) Client PC firewall permits inbound port 1723 solved the problem for me on Windows 2008 client.
From XP and 2003 systems I do not have to do this... thanks!

Same here, from my iPhone&iPad (both iOS 6.0.1) and Android phone (ICS 4.0.4) no problem to connect to PPTP VPN via 3G or wifi, but Windows 7 always fails, so the issue seems Windows-related with at least the router settings being ok as these other devices also can connect from the outside. Strange thing though is that this only started happening after upgrading to DSM 4.1 and its new VPN-package. Before that my Windows-machine did fine connecting the NAS through VPN.

As indicated by others I've opened up the Windows firewall for GRE/PPTP etc, even turned the firewall off entirely as well as antivirus/malwaredetection, but even then no VPN from Windows 7.

Maybe something specific changed in the PPTP-protocol implementation that makes the combination of Windows 7 and the latest VPN-package incompatible?
