I honestly like the design of the Synology better but what I want is absolute reliability and performance.
I was about to purchase the device on Amazon when I saw many reviews on there (and elsewhere) that talk about the infamous BBoD on the DS1512+. Some have said on this forum that they had an easy RMA process and it was fixed but the way I look at it is, if I buy the product today, I am not planning to RMA it; that's only if the product fails which it seems to have for several people. Has this BBoD problem been fixed by Synology yet? Is there a new batch of the DS1512+ out? Amazon has it for sale @ $799.99 but I don't want to spend $800 and then turn around and RMA it in a couple of weeks/months.
So can someone at Synology tell me clearly that this issue has been resolved? If I buy the DS1512+ today on Amazon, will it be likely that I get the BBoD?
I am ready to pull the trigger but I need to know I am getting a top quality product for my money.
Thanks.

And I don't see the point of having a vote of, No affected.....people saying no affect could be affected tomorrow....really seems a recall may be in order! So where was my email warning from Synology so I could make another backup of my backups of my backups ? its hilarious

What I find strange is when I purchased the unit in April, I emailed my serial# to Synology and was told my unit was not in the affected range.
