Setting up Network Backup "Service is not enabled"

Postby kenco8801 » Thu May 03, 2012 8:48 pm

Hi
I'm trying to setup a network backup (preferably folder sync / network backup rsync-compatible) with server externally.

Each time I try to create the task, DSM tells me "Network Backup Service is not enabled" but it is!!

Is this a bug? Do I have to restart the NAS after enabling this service?

I have enabled "Enable network backup service", "Enable Shared Folder Sync Service"

Control Panel - Network Backup
Shared Folder Sync tab - Enable Shared Folder Sync Service, Apply * Warning: To enable Shared Folder Sync Service, you should enable Network Backup service first. Do you want to enable Network Backup service now?* YES Close, reopen and they are both set.

Menu > Backup and Restore
Shared Folder Sync tab
Create > *Name* > Choose a folder + T&Cs > server name, username, password, enable block level sync > Run Sync manually (testing) > Apply *Error: Network Backup Service is not enabled*

HELP!

I had this problem yesterday, it was because I hadn't opened the ports in the firewall on the router for the remote nas.
