Hi Vincent,

You are not the only one. I am facing the same issue. I am having the latest DSM 4.0-2219. I never had any issues with download station when downloading files with relatively large file sizes until recently (also had this issue with the single latest version of dsm4.0)..

It would be nice if synology can spend some time on this issue.

Cheers,
MTII

Hello MTII,

Thank you for your reply. I'm "happy" to see i'm not the only 1 having this issue, as you said i hope Synology will take a look to this problem because i cannot use this feature.

Thank you :)

Bests Regards,

Vincent.

Maximum filesize

Postby Erland » Sun Jan 27, 2013 8:54 am

Hi

I recently encountered a problem. When downloading from a newsgroup the Download Station downloaded the full file but wouldn't save it to disk.
The error message was "The location's filesystem does not allow single file size over 4GB.
The filesystem is ext4, so that shouldn't be the problem. Furthermore File Station has no problems saving files larger than 4GB in the same location.

The hardware is a DS210J and the problem occurs on both DSM 4.1 and 4.2 beta.

Any suggestions (apart from downloading on the PC and then transferring to the Diskstation).

Your temporaty download location is most likely set to a fat/fat32 -formatted drive?

Hi

Thank you for the suggestion. I only have one drive installed, and that drive is ext4 formatted.
I did at one time have a fat32 formatted usb-drive attached, but the system has been reinstalled after that.
I have only one folder named "download" - filestation can unrar and save files that end up larger than 4GB - downloadstation can't save files larger than 4GB. I'm puzzled.

I have exactly the same problem as you describe Erland.
I've tried several different things. Formatted my NAS, for example.

However, I have only 1 single hard drive plugged into my DS713+, but in my head, it's not a problem? It is with the ext4 filesystem like you.

I'm using the DownloadStation with NZB.

Have you found a solution?

Hi David

Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution. I now use my laptop for downloading large files.

My 210j is facing a future as backup only if this continues in the next releases.

Not good to hear Erland. There must be a solution.. :|

Hi ineegma.
I don't have the Temporary location like you? (I'm using DSM 4.1)

How can that be?

I have the same problem.

The files in the screenshot was added for download at the exact same formular at the same time (one list) but the biggest file downloaded without problems - the smaller ones gets the error massage, that the destination filesystem does not support files larger than 4 GB - I have the same filesystem as always (ext4) and havent changed any settings or plugged in any external disks.

That's why I was asking - to confirm that the system properly detects your single hdd (I have two volumes from two hdd's and can choose where to put the temp files).

I haven't experienced your problem myself, ext4 supports files over 4Gb. At this point can only suggest a full hdd wipe and OS reinstall.

Blanking disk and reinstalling OS doesn't help. (it didn't in my case - I think I tried it 3 or 4 times - mayby more - I even tried 3 different disks)
