Streaming media log files

Hi all,

Is it possible to identity which media files are being stream from my NAS?
I can see what device is connecting tot he video folder but that's about it.

I have different media clients in the house and would like to know if its possible to track who is watching what?

OK, took a little while to find this but if you go to System Information -> Service -> Windows File Service and check Enable Transfer Log, the resulting log provides details of which user transferred which file, when and from what IP.

Thanks for you answer but i still cant see any details of the file accessed on my DS1010.

Ive installed the Syslog application and there is nothing there.
I enable the Windows File Service logging as you mentioned but after streaming a movie to my apple TV the only result i got was that ATV access the shared folder "Video"

Where should i see the detailed information captured?

I was able to see it by going into the System Information window from the pulldown menu (top left of DSM window) and then clicking on the log tab, select Windows File Transfer from the pulldown and hey presto.

You can also access this log by clicking on the up arrow bottom right of your DSM window to expand the system status window, ie. System Health/Resource Monitor/Logs, then click on the page icon next to the text indicating which log you're currently viewing. This brings up the same window/tab I mentioned above where you can select Windows File Transfer from the pulldown.

Just double checked it with my WDTVLive streaming a movie and it definitely logged it.

Tried again and it only seems to capture connections from my PC.

I tried streaming from my Apple TV and from my PS3 and neither of them show up in the log files.
Im not sure if there is anything uniquely different about the WDTV but if anyone out there can see what media files are accessed via their PS3 i'd like to know.
