DS1812+ in Canada

Postby LYuan » Fri Mar 30, 2012 6:19 am

I'm just wondering if anyone in Canada has been able to get their hands on a DS1812+ as of yet. I'm in Toronto, and have been waiting weeks since the announcement to pick up a unit, but haven't found a single distributor that has one in stock. Some places I have checked have even taken the product off of their system, saying that it "might be discontinued". Is this true? If not, can anyone point me to somewhere that I might be able to buy it?

Thanks!

Canada computer has it listed as special order, but I'm sure it would be quick to get one.

NCIX used to have it in stock, but I'm sure they can get one for you.

Computer valley lists it as backordered.

Good luck, I was looking at buying one, but I got a DS1512+ instead.

I got mine from newegg.ca

Was really waiting for this one, and was refreshing furiously.

It finally came up with a 999$ price tag.

I jumped on it.

Glad I did, the next day it as sold out.

NCIX and Canada Computer both have never had stock. They both also have no ETA on availability. I think they all get their stock from ASI. The item is listed as "deactivated" at newegg, so I don't think that I have mich choice but to wait... :?

Cheers,

L.

DS1812+ (and maybe other models) have been recalled. Not sure how long it will be until Synology ships fixed units.

Wow - That really puts a dent into my plans. Hopefully they don't need to called it DS1813+ when it finally hits the shelves.

It's really hard to say - For me, I'd try and get it replaced anyway - Just because if anything ever goes wrong with it after the warranty period, you'll forever wonder if it was that problem, so something associated with that problem.

I have to say, it's really hard adjusting to my setup without a Synology in there right now. It's been 2 months since I've sold my DS1511+, and I've been missing it ever since!!!! :(

I checked on Newegg.ca today, and it showed that it was in stock, so I ordered it. I checked later the same product page, and noticed that the unit was now out of stock, so there is a good possibility that there was only that one single unit available. Having heard that there is a DS1812+ recall going on, I'm worried that this unit is one of the units effected by the recall issue. Is there a way to tell if this is a new batch or if this is one of the 'faulty' systems?

I got mine in the second wave at newegg and I'm not having the blatant issue that prompted the recall.

I think the issue is with the first first units.

Then again, I'm not a synology employee, so this is just an educated guess based on what we're hearing.

Synology really needs to hire a rep for the forum full time, too many unanswered questions :?

The affected products include DS1512+ and DS1812+ worldwide, and DS212j for Asia shipments only

I'm in Canada :D

For resellers who want to check whether their on-hand stocks are affected, they are also welcome to send serial numbers to blueLED@synology.com for verification.

I'll send my serial number to them regardless, to be 100% certain

Thanks for the link!

sjacob!

I just saw your review on the newegg.ca site! Did you get your 1812+ from there? I was a little worried after ordering mine - The product became immediately out of stock, so they only seemed to have one unit. On top of that, there was the other guy writing about the blinking light - And, newegg.ca has been known to re-ship RMA'd products as new ones....So, I'm actually worried about getting the other guy's dead unit!
