Raid 1 Duplxing/Splitting

Postby nicko_mv » Wed Apr 18, 2012 9:21 am

Hi There,

Wondering if the Synology units support Raid 1 Duplexing/Splitting, or for the more than 2 bay solutions, multiplexing?

See here for description of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_R ... erformance

If correct about the reduced seek times and increased read speeds, it could be tempting! Of course, it would depend on the raid controller in the relivant product....

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks!

Well, considering that duplexing requires two (or more) RAID controllers, and that Synology is using soft-RAID, so it has none, I don't think it can be supported.
